According to multiple sources FOX 5 is reporting that Cubs Bench Coach Dave Martinez has an agreement to become the next manager of the Washington Nationals.
Martinez has been a bench coach in the majors since 2008, and played outfield for 10 teams over a 15-year career.
No contract has been signed between the two parties, but there is an agreement in place for Martinez to take over a Nationals team that has won the National League East the last 2 years.
The deal is set to be announced after the conclusion of the World Series.
Martinez will take over for Dusty Baker who’s contract was not renewed after the conclusion of the 2017 season.
